The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This is my review of the 16th read of 2022. "The Hate U Give" did an amazing job at creating an unsettling atmosphere throughout the entire story even when Starr shows up at the party in the first chapter you can really feel that looming sense of anticipating something terrible, and when said terrible thing does happen you're left feeling even worse. Books like these are so important in this day and age to help spread awareness for what millions of black families have gone through and are going through. I especially emphasize the page where Starr  talks about her parents lecturing her when she was 12 about how cautious to be around cops simply because of their skin colour and even the neighbourhood they're from. I would reccomend this book to anyone who's in the mood for a reality check or to be inspired by this 5 star story of Starr discovering her greatest weapon, her voice. I absolutely adore how well Ms. Thomas was able to have such a broad mixture of emotion
